Help your students learn important art vocabulary!
I have included 6 different vocab scavenger hunts in this package (so you can choose what’s right for your students). There are 5 scavenger hunts to match up with each of the 5 jeopardy game boards included in this package and 1 scavenger hunt which includes all the words used in the game (62 words - see preview picture for complete list).
Have students work by themselves or in groups to match each definition in the packet to its matching vocabulary word. You can have students use the included art vocabulary list… or for a more interactive approach, have them match the words with their definitions by looking at my Elements of Art and Principles of Design posters (not included – sold separately)!

The vocabulary words included in this package were directly derived from my poster bundle – so it’s a fantastic match. Students can read definitions and/or see great visuals and examples!
This activity is also a great lesson to leave for a substitute to do with students as well! *You won’t return to a permanent splotch of glitter and glue cemented to your floor (true story)! :/

Ughhhhh a boring packet?! That’s no fun! My kids won’t want to complete this – what’s the motivation to complete this accurately and in its entirety??
Ah! So glad you asked!
Before beginning the Art Vocabulary Scavenger Hunt, be sure to explain to students that afterwards they will be playing a game of Art Vocab Jeopardy! Student groups will go head to head in the Jeopardy game and will be able to use their packets while they play (so if it is completed and done correctly – they already have all the answers)!!

Included in this package are 5 different Jeopardy games - so once again you can use what is right for your learners!
  • Elements of Art and Associated Vocabulary Board
  • Principles of Design and Other Art Vocabulary Board (no word repeats)
  • Elements and Principles Board
  • Elementary Art Vocabulary (simple vocab)
  • The Tricky Vocabulary Board (for a greater challenge)

Each board is setup as it's own game, but I've also included an editable PPT so you can change whatever you need to.
If you use the editable version, make sure that the gameboard is the LAST slide in the presentation (that's what the "Back to the Board" button on the slides links back to.

A ZIP file is a compressed folder containing multiple files. This type of file format allows you to download many files at once.

Before you can directly access the files, you'll need to "unzip" the file. No worries though, both Windows and Mac OSX are able to open and uncompress ZIP files easily without additional software (iPhones and iPads will require an additional app).

If your computer runs Microsoft Windows:

  1. Right-click on the unopened ZIP folder.
  2. Choose "Extract All" from the menu that opens.
  3. Choose a destination. This is the place where you want to keep the unzipped files. You can choose "My Documents," for example.
  4. Click "Extract."

If your computer runs Mac OSX:

Double-click the unopened ZIP — the file should extract automatically. If that doesn't work, hold down the control key and click the ZIP file icon. Choose "Open With" and then select "Archive Utility." The utility will extract the ZIP files, and you can find them in the same folder where you downloaded them.

Still having trouble?

If you're still having trouble getting your files to unzip, I recommend extracting the ZIP file online using one of these free websites:
