This package includes three art projects which center around the theme of hispanic heritage and more specifically, the art of Mexico. This is a great way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15th-October 15th) with your students and hang some multicultural art!
To begin you can start by showing students the Art of Mexico PowerPoint presentation. This PPT gives background information on the three cultures covered with these lessons - the Zapotec, the Aztec, and the Otomi Indians (all indigenous to the land). You can have students jot down notes on either the included brochure template or the half sheet sketchbook insert.
When it comes time to make the art, I typically set up my room so that each lesson is happening simultaneously as individual centers. Each center should be set up with all the supplies AND the instruction sheet. Since students can travel freely amongst the centers and make their artwork, I've also included a time sheet so that students can record what they were working on each day.
